- Tour with Get Your Guide (Experiential gifts)
Nowadays, when I get a travel gift, I think about impact. I want to be supporting companies that are doing good for the environment and wearing apparel and using products from businesses that consider eco-conscious methods of production.
In this gift guide, you can both surprise and impress the people in your life (friends and family) who not only love to travel, but also want sustainable gifts for the holiday season. I’ve chosen travel products that have been awesome for me to have this year, as well as B Corp brands that I want to support for their eco-friendly practices.
See which gifts in this list would delight a special traveler on your gift list.
Quick eco-friendly gifts $25 and under
Not all gifts have to be pricy. My $25 and under category includes easy, simple and affordable gifts that have eco-conscious qualities and come from brands that consider environmental impact.
Orbitkey Key Organizer Active (Leather-Free)
Why it's a great gift: For travelers who love some good organization hacks, this leather-free key organizer comes froma B Corp brand and is a cool hack
Check PricesOrbitkey is one of the B Corp brands we’re most excited about this year, and while this key organizer looks small, it is mighty. In the leather-free version, it’s durable and waterproof and helps even the most put-together travelers take their key storage up a notch.
Orbitkey is a company that measures its carbon footprint, and more, with its impact details available at its Sustainability pledge.
Eco lunchbox stainless steel snack containers
Why it's a great gift: They're a reusable can't-leave-home-without it essential for travelers who snack
Check PricesThe ECOlunchpod (only $13) and ECOdipper ($13) are two of the cutest gifts from the stainless steel collection at this tried-and-true brand that we like for travel containers. If you’re deciding between them, consider how the traveler you’re gifting likes “long snacks” (like pretzels) or is always “dipping” (the ECOdipper is great for hummus or nut butters to take along on a road trip or flight).
For years, we’ve put Ecolunchbox products on our list of the best travel accessories because it’s essential to have a reusable snack container when traveling near and far.
Kitsch solid shampoo and conditioner combo packs
Why it's a great gift: Solid toiletries are something that so many eco-conscious travelers aim to pick up, but never get around to
Check PricesI will admit that when I see solid shampoo, conditioner and body wash, I think, “Oh yes, I’ve been meaning to get that.” And then I forget—multiple times. Maybe it’s because solid shampoo/conditioner comes at a little bit of a higher price point than the regular store-bought kind, but that is why it makes the PERFECT eco-friendly gift!
Solid shampoos do away with the disposable nature of tiny travel-sized plastic bottles that go right to landfill. Any environmentally-forward traveler will appreciate the famous Kitsch solids set as a holiday gift.
Allbirds Crew Socks
Why it's a great gift: Crew socks are back, baby, and every traveler wants to be wearing them in their trip photos!
Check PricesThe Allbirds Crew socks are made from organic cotton and the company’s proprietary “tree fiber,” which both contribute to lower needs for fertilizer in the growing process. Like other brands I’ll be mentioning, Allbirds is also a certified B Corp, addressing climate impact across carbon emissions, climate change, renewable energy and more.
To get 15% off any holiday gifts at Allbirds, use code HALFHALFTRAVEL15 at checkout when you shop the site. (To learn more about our experience with the brand, head to our Allbirds brand review prior to browsing.)
Stasher Snack Bag (12 fl oz)
Why it's a great gift: Proven to reduce the need for disposable plastic baggies for snacks on the go, Stasher's bags are the best-known for being "endlessly reusable!"
Check PricesHelp a traveler in your life make the switch to STASHing by getting them hooked on the Stasher bags for eternal reusability in food and “stuff” storage. Stasher bags are designed to stand the test of time and the company’s goal is to keep every product of theirs out of landfill.
To that end, they even partner with Terracycle to responsibly recycle any of their products if one accidentally breaks during use.
Topo Designs Taco Bag
Why it's a great gift: Perfect as a stocking stuffer, or a little "I thought of you!" gift for a travel-minded friend, the Taco Bag has an adorable size and tons of uses
Check PricesTOPO Designs is one of those travel product brands that is COOL, and anyone (including me, or Dan) would be so excited to get a new TOPO gift. Why are they envi-forward? TOPO creates their products with durability, so they actually have a repairs program where they repair any one of their products if it has an issue, keeping as many as possible out of the landfills. So cool!
Compostable Bamboo Travel Toothbrush
Why it's a great gift: Anyone who travels a lot knows that toothbrushes are one of the first things to "get used up" and have a dead end to their lives. Compostable toothbrushes made from bamboo are one step better for our earth
Check PricesThis travel toothbrush from Little Flower Soap, a small business in Michigan, is a perfect replacement for plastic toothbrushes that are far from compostable. The design of this one is collapsible and fits into a travel dopp kit!
Plastic-Neutral Pill Box
Why it's a great gift: For the technical eco-conscious traveler, they'll be glad to know that this pillbox is Certified Plastic-Neutral
Check PricesIs it the world’s first “plastic-neutral” pill box? What this means, from brand Port and Polish, is that for every product the company makes, they remove an equal amount of non-compostable plastic (edit: trash) from the world’s oceans. Their products are also shipped in 100% recycled materials.
How’s that for a sleek and chic travel pill box with a hidden purpose?
Thoughtful eco-friendly gifts $50 and under
By increasing your gift spend just a dab, these eco-friendly products from some of my top travel brands become great ideas.
Icebreaker Merino Wool Gloves
Why it's a great gift: Merino wool gloves from a quality merino wool brand like Icebreaker are a classy gift and will always get use in the colder half of the year
Check PricesI got to know the brand Icebreaker from some of my travel dresses for women, and their transparently-sourced merino wool is one of the bigger plusses of shopping from this company. They’re innovating naturally, and working toward a plastic-free journey.
As for the gloves, merino wool gloves provide awesome performance for cold-weather travel, with temperature-regulation, sweat-wicking abilities and odor-resistant materials. Look out for the gloves that have touch-screen-able fingertips.
Ocean Bottle Original Vacuum Bottle
Why it's a great gift: Every traveler needs a good water bottle, and my favorite thing about this one is that it is also a cup!
Check PricesI’ve had my Ocean Bottle for two years, and here are my favorite things about it (and why it’s a great sustainable travel gift):
- I “actually” use the little silicone loop handle to dig it out of my bag.
- It’s a great size for fitting in backpack side pockets, and cupholders on flights.
- Every purchase from Ocean Bottle helps collect ocean-bound plastic (yuck!) and save our water resources.
- Ocean Bottle is a Certified B Corp, my favorite type of environmentally-conscious business!
Klean Kanteen coffee tumbler
Why it's a great gift: Every traveler should have a hot drink tumbler they love, and bonus points if it's from a sustainable brand
Check PricesKlean Kanteen is a member of 1% for the Planet, Climate Label Certified and also uses materials like 90% recycled steel in the walls of their drink tumbler products!
Patagonia Knit Headband
Why it's a great gift: Not everyone buys themself a cold-weather travel headband, so lots of people are waiting for one as a gift :-)
Check PricesThis awesome activewear headband is moisture-wicking, so it is great for adventure travel during fall, winter and early spring. Bonus points go to all-star sustainable travel brand Patagonia for giving profits to our planet, and taking responsibility for environmental impact.
Terra Thread Organic Laptop Sleeve
Why it's a great gift: It's a way to protect your laptop, but from a company that cares about the Earth
Check PricesTerra Thread uses organic cotton, and also supports Feeding America with every purchase from their website directly. The cotton used in this organic-look laptop case is Certified Fairtrade Organic cotton canvas and made in a Fair Trade Certified™ factory. This is a purchase to feel good about, in a world where things are less and less transparent.
Sustainable gifts $100 and under
Ibex Natural Boxer Briefs
Why it's a great gift: There's no need to hide the truth about merino wool boxer briefs from Ibex, as they're a worthwhile gift made of natural materials with superpower properties
Check PricesIf you know a traveler into merino wool this and that, have you considered surprising them with merino wool undergarments? Don’t be embarrassed—merino wool underwear is AWESOME, and you bet I’m proud to say that I wear it, too!
Ibex is a company that works to source sustainably, and “Buy Less, Buy Better”—making quality products so that you can wear them longer and avoid wasteful fast fashion.
Beckett Simonon Belts
Why it's a great gift: Cheap belts stink, so any traveler who wants to keep their pants up in style would love a Beckett Simonon handcrafted belt
Check PricesI reviewed Beckett Simonon’s shoes, and my main takeaway was that this company eliminates excess products on their shelves by making everything made to order. Ordering made-to-order shoes is hard, if you’re not the one you’re shopping for, so I found that they make both men’s and women’s belts, crafted by the same artisans in Colombia who take great care in each leather product and turn out fantastically high-quality goods.
Canvelle Fanny Pack
Why it's a great gift: [Canvelle bags](/brands/canvelle.html) are consistently the LIGHTEST-weight bags I own for travel, and I recommend them to everyone
Check PricesIf you read my Canvelle fanny pack review, you’ll know that the Canvelle fanny pack, the brand’s hallmark product, is made from the plastic in 25 recycled bottles. Also, it is machine-washable. Such a favorite of mine for travel days, flights and sightseeing.
While the original fanny is $115, the “everyday” side release buckle model is currently on sale. Read my Side Release Buckle Fanny Pack review to see it in action.
prAna Recycled Materials Travel Blanket
Why it's a great gift: This cozy blanket is made of 100% recycled materials and features a sherpa lining
Check PricesSherpa is one of my favorite warm and fuzzy materials for cozying up, and this travel blanket from well-known brand prAna is a recycled product for sustainability points. Curious about prAna’s environmental impact before you shop their site? They have a Sustainability page to browse.
Quince Eco Compression Packing Cubes (6-pack)
Why it's a great gift: These packing cubes are a better material, with better zippers, and have a classier look than others I've tried in past years
Check PricesI thought I had tried all the world’s packing cubes, but then I tried the ones from Quince and the zippers glide better, the mesh windows are more useful and the array of sizes can’t be beat. These are the true travel gift for this year and they’re made from 61 recycled bottles.
Get the full picture at my Quince Compression Packing Cube review.
Bellroy Passport Cover
Why it's a great gift: Every traveler should have a passport cover, but the Bellroy one takes the features up a notch
Check PricesA tech-forward and style-focused traveler on your list will love the Bellroy Passport Cover, which has RFID protection, magnetic closure (so satisfying), space for up to two standard passports AND a build from an eco-friendly leather alternative. Because it’s Bellroy, it looks good, and comes from a B Corp brand, so they’re making products aimed to be used as long as possible with quality.
Cadence Capsule Starter Set
Why it's a great gift: It's for the person on your list who wants to get started with capsule-style travel packing, and eliminating single-use plastics in toiletries and beauty products
Check PricesI love the ideal of the Capsule Starter Set. It’s the easiest way to start taking disposable travel-sized containers out of the travel equation. Instead, fill up the aesthetically-pleasing “capsules” with preferred beauty and toiletry products. They are TSA-compliant!
Unbound Merino Beanies (2 pack)
Why it's a great gift: This is a nice travel gift for couples, with a "his and hers" in this unisex two-pack of merino wool beanies
Check PricesFor cold weather travel, wouldn’t anyone want a merino wool winter hat? Unbound Merino is one of the leading travel brands in merino wool, with the antithesis to fast fashion, as hats like these never go out of style and are made for continued wear.
Best unique eco-conscious gifts $100 and up
In this category, find some of my most well-loved and trusted travel products that make amazing gifts. All are from sustainable brands with an eco-friendly promise.
Paka Apparel Unisex Hoodie and Women's Hoodie
Why it's a great gift: Paka Apparel features sustainably-sourced alpaca fibers in their famous sweaters, and they're the type of travel gift that brings you closer to nature
Check PricesWith the well-known Paka Hoodie and now, the newer Women’s Hoodie (with a true women’s fit), the Paka sweaters are soft, warm, special and sustainably crafted in Peru with female artisans in rural communities. These are travel gifts with a real story, and each one is hand-signed by the woman who loomed it. Read more about the brand at my Paka brand review before shopping their site.
Finisterre Stormbird Rain Jacket
Why it's a great gift: For the traveler who values quality, this raincoat is no joke, and performs up to par in wet season travels
Check PricesI think it is fair to say I am obsessed with my Finisterre Stormbird Rain Jacket. At my Finisterre women’s review, you’ll see more photos, as well as the details about how this brand operates with an Earth-conscious mantra. Finisterre is one of the first brands I think of when I think “eco-friendly,” and they prioritize environmental impact with recycled fabrics, and PFA-free waterproofing. This jacket is superb for staying dry while outdoorsing and is an all-star travel gift.
Cotopaxi Del Dia Collection: Allpa 42L Backpack
Why it's a great gift: Any product from the [Del Dia collection](https://cotopaxi.pxf.io/N99K5K) uses "deadstock" fabric, that would've otherwise reached the end of its life, but gets repurposed into Cotopaxi's most colorful bags yet
Check PricesThis is one of the most eco-friendly backpacks I own, and it is the true backpack that does it all for all kinds of travels (from camping, to backpacking to city trips). What’s so cool about the “Del Dia” style is that no two Del Dia backpacks are alike, in that no two have the same fabric color combinations, buckle colors or zipper colors. What a fun way to have a fun style that also supports eliminating fabric waste, and from one of the best-known travel brands.
Read my Cotopaxi Allpa 42L review to see where I’ve taken this trusty backpack.
Troubadour Apex Mini Daypack
Why it's a great gift: I find it to be the perfect size as a daypack that also looks classic, timeless, chic and elevated
Check PricesI think it is also fair to say that I’m a huge spokesperson for the Troubadour Apex Mini, a petite daypack from the Troubadour brand that I find to be full of useful travel features and of exceptional quality.
I have it hanging in my closet and it’s the first bag I think of when I want to zip out to the city or for a weekend getaway. Your favorite travelers will find it equally delightful—it has secret pockets, ergonomic straps, strong fabrics, and a sleek interior water bottle holder.

Tour with Get Your Guide (Experiential gifts)
Why it's a great gift: For travelers who won't be thrilled by new "stuff," consider gifting a tour!
Check PricesAvoid the stuff and the clutter by gifting a tour, somewhere cool in the world. I’ve done Get Your Guide tours in Guatemala and beyond, seeing the world and having new experiences with trusted guides who’ve taught me things I couldn’t have learned in books.
Check out tours at Get Your Guide, as they have tour options in tons of countries! This is also a sustainable way to eliminate getting more “things” that clutter up your house (or the house of someone on your holiday gift list).
