My mom saved a few of my baby and toddler items, and what’s funny is they actually did stand the test of time. The thing is, though, that stuff isn’t made like that anymore.

We got our toddler a Pladra Toddler Cubs Every Day Flannel Shirt, because it is adorable and because she can keep it forever. Maybe she can even give it to her kids one day.

I wondered if spending on a premium flannel for a toddler was worth it. I mean, kids grow so fast, right? This isn’t just any toddler shirt. It’s a unique and special item that is not only warm, but also really cool for a kid to have.

Here’s what’s in the details.

A Pladra flannel… for a child?

Our toddler absolutely adores her Every Day flannel shirt, and honestly, so do I.

The moment she put it on, she was pointing at the wildlife details and getting so excited about the deer, puffin, moose and birds she could spot in the print. The best part was that she kept saying it was “just like Mommy and Daddy’s” because Dan and I both have the adult versions of Pladra flannel shirts.

Dan has the men’s Every Day Flannel Shirt and I have the women’s Every Day Flannel Shirt and we enjoy them a lot. You can check out our reviews of each, to see how they fit us.

So it’s not typical of us to try out the “children’s version” of something we own, but because Pladra makes the exact same product in a child size, we could not resist. Having Pladra flannels for the three of us means awesome family photo opportunities and that’s a lot of fun.

We went to the local park for some hiking and playground time, the first time we wore them all together, and called ourselves “the family wearing the purple flannels together.” It was photo-worthy, and actually very cute. My friends go nuts for this type of stuff when I send over the photos we took.

The fit (child sizes)

Currently, Pladra makes their Cubs line in toddler sizes, which means 2T-5T.

I looked all over their site for other family sizes, like children’s or teens, but those don’t exist (yet). So if you’re shopping for flannel shirts, maybe it’s special that the very unique point in time in which you could match your child(ren) in Pladra shirts is when they are toddlers, between ages 2-5.

The fit is spot-on for our toddler, in size 2T. In fact, we ordered hers the previous season, and now it fits well.

Our little one recently moved into 3T on top, but the 2T Cubs Flannel fits her perfectly from shoulder to sleeve length. Since it’s unisex, it might run a bit larger on girls than boys. We’ll know for sure when our baby boy sizes into it next year.

Unique details you won’t find elsewhere

The attention to detail is incredible. We’ve found that in both of our versions as well.

While our adult Pladra shirts have buttons, the toddler version has black snaps that are so much easier for little hands (and parent hands) to manage. There’s even a little white tag with the signature Pladra “antler” at the pocket that adds such a sweet touch. (Our toddler recently learned about animals that have antlers, she loved this detail a lot.)

The wildlife print under the cuffs, collar and back yoke is what really sets this apart. It’s the same signature detail that makes Pladra shirts so unique, and seeing our toddler’s face light up when she spots animals she recognizes is priceless.

I have the same detailing at the cuffs, collar and yoke of my shirt too. Dan’s doesn’t have this detail but he now regrets it.

Lasting quality, even for kids

What convinced me that the Pladra Toddler Flannel Shirt was worth the investment? The construction, design and quality materials with crafted stitching.

This isn’t some flimsy kids’ shirt that’ll fall apart after a few washes. And believe me, I’ve had my fair share of baby clothes I’ve had to sew by hand because they got holes.

The triple stitching (the same as in the adult versions) at the shoulders and back yoke, plus the reinforced chest pockets and cuffs mean this shirt can handle serious toddler play!

We doubt your toddler is out there doing construction, although they might like to pretend to. Either way, you really shouldn’t have to worry about any issues with the shirt falling apart.

The flannel is soft and durable.. I’ve washed it multiple times and it still looks brand new. If you compare it to all those cheap bamboo viscose or polyester kids’ clothes that pill and lose shape after a few wears, the Pladra Every Day flannel is in a different league. (And that’s what I’d expect, for the price, so it’s a worthy purchase.)

Suggestions on how to order

I suggest ordering your child’s Pladra flannel Cub-sized shirt with some room to grow, and you’ll have a shirt that’s not only warm and cozy but ready for whichever adventures your little one has planned. Our son will inherit our daughter’s Pladra flannel (we got a unisex color, so this works out!) and she can get one in the next size, next year.

The seasons matter, so also pick your anticipated size knowing that they’ll wear it in the fall and winter.
