Mugsy Travelers Pants Review: Hybrid Pants That Transform Into Joggers
The Mugsy Travelers Pants are kind of a jogger-pants hybrid with a drawstring at the ankles that transforms them into joggers. Here's how these unique travel pants perform.

MinimizeI got to learn about Mugsy and the travel jeans they’re making, so I tried them out. I think the standout part of these pants are the fabric: they’re lightweight-feeling, and kind of unique.
A few things about the Mugsy pants are memorable: there’s the drawstring at the ankles, which makes them into joggers. I have to say, I’ve seen a lot of pants and I haven’t seen this before, so it made me say, “Wow.”

What makes them unique
- Hybrid design: They’re kind of a jogger-pants hybrid. I think they’re hard to explain, and that is likely why Mugsy considers them best-in-class and groundbreaking.
- Transform into joggers: The drawstring at the ankles transforms them into joggers, giving you two different looks from one pair of pants.
- Hidden zipper pocket: There’s a zipper pocket at the side that can hold a passport; I usually use pockets like these for receipts I need to expense, or a frequently-used hotel room key or credit card.
- Technical performance: I’d consider them “technical performance pants,” as I’ve seen from other brands.
The website doesn’t explain all too much about them, so I’ll summarize: they’re stretch pants that look like casual chinos (slit pockets at rear, and belt loops), but transform into joggers by cinching them at the ankles.
Perfect for travel
I think they actually look really decent, for if you needed to step off a plane and be at a business casual luncheon, informal meeting or dinner date. I’m serious!
Then, there’s the hidden zipper pocket at the hip. While I have seen this type of travel feature before on men’s pants from other brands, it’s still one of my favorite highlights of a travel product. When Becca and I are on vacation or out of town, she’ll remind me to put valuables in there so that they don’t fall out of my regular pockets.

What to know about fit
Some shortfalls of the Mugsy Travelers Pants to mention: if I had to pick a shortfall it’s that when they’re not draw-corded into joggers for doing athletic activities, they’re a little on the baggy side.
I like my jeans to be more of a slim fit, like my all-time favorite jeans from DUER. Learn more about this and more Mugsy products at my Mugsy brand review, and see what to know before ordering.
Quick takeaways
- Unique hybrid design that transforms from chinos to joggers
- Hidden zipper pocket perfect for travel essentials
- Lightweight, stretchy fabric that’s comfortable for travel
- Versatile enough for business casual or casual wear
- Drawstring ankles provide flexibility in styling
The Mugsy Travelers Pants are worth trying if you’re looking for something different in travel pants. The hybrid design and hidden pocket make them perfect for travelers who want versatility in their wardrobe.
