Our Evaluation

We checked out the Zoe Traveler stroller, and we’re delighted to say that it ticks the box for lightweight convenience with a high weight capacity. Find out more right here.

Why We Chose to Highlight This Stroller

The Zoe Traveler stands out for its combination of lightweight construction and high weight capacity. It can fit a child up to 60 lbs, and this is the highest weight capacity we’ve seen in the entire travel stroller market.

Travel + Leisure notes that the Zoe Traveler weighs 13 lbs (only!) and folds to roughly 21.5 × 9.5 × 18.5 inches, while supporting children up to 60 lbs. Expedition Parenthood similarly reports that the stroller weighs 13 lbs and folds to about 21 × 17.7 × 8.5 inches. These measurements place it among the lightest travel strollers with one of the highest weight capacities, making it a versatile choice for growing toddlers.

The main reason for us to highlight the Zoe Traveler is that it fits in overhead bins on airplanes. Its fold is one of the smallest among travel strollers, and parents tend to think it’s a good-looking stroller as well. Some travel strollers are goofy! The Zoe stroller is one that is aesthetically-pleasing and modern, so my friends who have it like to use it both for travel and for day-to-day activities like going to the zoo, the mall, the playground or out on errands at various stores.

Personal Experience

In our testing, the one‑hand fold and automatic lock of the Zoe Traveler stroller proved very convenient when juggling luggage and a child.

The stroller stands upright when folded, so it “stands on its own.” It’s a helpful feature for when we’re on a trip and we have it “stand up” while folded, next to all our luggage if we are waiting for a taxi or an Uber.

The included travel bag protects the entire stroller during transit, like flights.

About the canopy: we’re picky on canopies, and there are companies that do canopies really well (like Nuna). The extended canopy on the Zoe Traveler provides “OK” sun protection, but the canopy itself hinges pretty high up, so there isn’t coverage from the sun for most of a toddler’s body–just the head.

The seat is roomy enough for larger toddlers, weighing up to 60 lbs (one of the highest weight limits for a travel stroller, ever!). However, the seat does not recline completely flat, limiting its usefulness for naps, and the basket is smaller than those on heavier travel strollers.

As for “maneuverability:” how does it work with the Zoe? Pushing the stroller is what we’d call just fine on smooth surfaces, but the small wheels are less capable on gravel or grass. I think that is a given, based on the fact that the wheels are small and not super-powered our doubled like other stroller models we’re comparing to.

When It’s Worth the Investment

The Zoe Traveler is ideal for families who need a lightweight stroller that can comfortably seat heavier children. It’s particularly useful for travel and flying because of the compact fold and included travel bag (that’s a plus!). If you have an older toddler who still needs a stroller for long outings, the 60‑lb capacity means the Traveler will last longer than strollers from most other competitors.

According to Travel + Leisure, this stroller offers the highest weight limit among travel strollers and that’s the same as what we’ve seen in testing out a bunch of travel strollers, as well as seeing all the ones our friends have.

Considerations

This stroller is not designed for newborns, and there is no option to attach an infant car seat. I would keep this in mind if you plan to have this stroller from birth. I’d probably even say to check out the other strollers for travel that we recommend, because there are other options in the current market that easily accommodate car seats with adapters.

Next, the stroller basket is modestly-sized, at roughly 11 lbs capacity, so you may need to limit what you take with you. Additionally, the limited recline of the stroller seat can make napping less comfortable for some picky older toddlers. While the price is reasonable, the Traveler lacks some premium features like suspension on all wheels or adjustable handlebars. For parents who prioritize these features, a more expensive stroller may check your boxes better.

Bottom Line

The Zoe Traveler offers a compelling combination of low weight, high capacity and affordability: it’s really mid-range compared to the other expensive travel strollers and fold up just as well. It’s best for families with older toddlers who need a lightweight stroller for travel or everyday errands and are willing to compromise on storage and newborn compatibility.
