Our Evaluation

As we tested out the Stokke YOYO3, we can tell you why it is a favorite for parents who want an attractive travel stroller model from a trusted baby brand.

Why We Chose to Highlight This Stroller

The Stokke YOYO3 is often credited with “defining” the travel stroller category. Why’s that? It truly folds into an impressive little bundle, allowing us to carry it solely on one shoulder, and it doesn’t break our backs in the process. This is a step up from other travel strollers that are still heavy or bulky while on vacation.

According to Parenthood Adventures, the YOYO3 folds to 20.5 × 17.3 × 7.1 inches, weighs 14.8 lbs and supports children up to 48.5 lbs. This combination of size and weight means it can fit in airplane overhead bins. We won’t make any promises about this, though, as overhead bins are often a range of sizes, and more often than not, we’ve found that flight attendants strongly suggest gate-checking strollers to make extra space in overhead bins unless a flight is half-empty. We’ll say that your miles may vary with this proposition!

For the shoulder strap and included storage bag on the STokke YOYO3, it makes it easy to carry like a messenger bag. This is incredible, for a travel stroller: it turns into a carry accessory during your trip!

The stroller also features a UPF 50+ canopy, reflecting wheels for safety, and a smooth ride with a four‑wheel suspension design. It can be paired with a newborn bassinet or car seat (YOYO brand, sold separately), a sibling ride-on product or an additional foot rest, also frome the YOYO line.

Personal Experience

Using the YOYO3, we found the stroller to be really easy to push and use. It feels stable even on uneven city sidewalks.

Folding the stroller requires two hands, but becomes almost second nature with practice: push two white buttons and pull the lever. Once folded, the YOYO3 locks closed and can stand upright. This helps us out when we are piling all our luggage together either while loading or unloading our car, or getting in a taxi.

The under-stroller storage basket with a zipped back pocket provides more space than previous versions of this stroller, though it’s still smaller than those on newer competitors such as the UPPAbaby Minu V3 or Bugaboo Butterfly 2.

When It’s Worth the Investment

Parents choose the YOYO3 if they prioritize a compact and stylish stroller that can come with them on flights and city trips.

Its high build quality and wide range of accessories (like the newborn pack and ride‑along board) allow parents to customize it for their lifestyles, whether with one child or two (or more?). The price is steep, though, at around $499 currently.

Nevertheless, the stroller’s longevity and iconic design appeal to parents who value form and function. Parenthood Adventures notes that the YOYO3’s combination of size and weight makes it ideal for travel and ease of use.

Considerations

The YOYO3’s biggest drawbacks are its small basket and two‑step fold. If you don’t care about folding in a snap, though, it really does not matter.

While the fold is compact, you’ll need both hands to do it, which can be inconvenient when juggling a baby and bags. The seat sits fairly low, and the footrest is short, making the stroller less comfortable for taller toddlers. Additionally, the price is hig,h considering that other travel strollers now offer one‑hand folds and larger baskets at similar weights. Still, its appealing design and Stokke brand quality may justify the cost for some parents.

Bottom Line

The Stokke YOYO3 remains a classic travel stroller that combines compactness and a design that we don’t mind looking at! If you can accept the small basket and two‑step fold, its lightweight build and modern look make it an appealing product for flying and for family trips.

About the Brand

Babyzen is the original brand of the YOYO stroller, which was acquired by Stokke in 2021, meaning “Babyzen” and “Stokke” refer to the same line of YOYO strollers, with Stokke being the current manufacturer and branding. This might all make sense to you now, like it did for us (there are so many buzzwords and brand names out there).

The primary difference is the introduction of the Stokke YOYO3, which builds upon the Babyzen YOYO2 with several upgrades, including increased ventilation, an enlarged storage basket, reflective wheels, and an improved head cushion for better comfort.

Stokke revolutionized travel strollers with the original YOYO design, creating the first stroller that could fit in airplane overhead bins and setting the standard for compact travel strollers worldwide.
