Why we like it

The Lux & Nyx Origami Belt Bag is great as both an every day belt bag, as well as a travel accessory that is chic and style-forward for a trip.

Because of the satiny fabric and delicate “origami” design, it stands out among the rest of my travel fanny pack recommendations because it is more like a purse. That being said, though, don’t be fooled: it has two-way-wear capability as both a belt bag and a waist bag.

So, there’s versatility for different situations, from sightseeing while on vacation, to a small hands-free purse at a business conference or a unique crossbody bag while going to an upscale function like a banquet on your cruise vacation.

A few things make it noticeable as a fanny pack that has useful functions inside: the front phone pocket with discreet zipper pocket offers secure storage for valuables like jewelry, and the quick-release magnetic belt buckle ensures easy access that other belt bags lack. For me, the magnetic buckle is a true find, and it’s so satisfying to buckle, unbuckle and buckle again! I can’t stop doing it.

Again, another surprise: despite looking like it’s made of delicate satin, it is scratch-resistant and durable, so it’s ideal for an elevated travel belt bag look.

Considerations

The higher price point reflects the sophisticated design and materials, making it less suitable for budget-conscious buyers. The limited capacity may not suit travelers who need to carry more essentials, and those who are larger than size M will need to purchase an extension strap separately.

While the weather-resistant construction is durable, the bag may not be ideal for heavy-duty outdoor activities or those who prefer minimalist designs.

Concerned about size and fit? The adjustable infinity belt strap fits XS-M sizes comfortably. I’m an XS, and I have no problem with the sizing on it.

The brand’s eco-conscious commitment to vegan or recycled materials aligns with a lot of my commitments to recommending brands that support going green. Lastly, buying from Lux & Nyx means you’re supporting a woman- and minority-owned brand. Lux & Nyx is not a big-box retailer yet like other large travel brands, so having a Lux & Nyx item is still new and novel to me!
