Why we like it

The Hyperlite Mountain Gear Versa is incredibly lightweight at just 4.3 ounces, making it hard to remember that I’m actually wearing it when I have it on my waist or strapped across my front!

The waterproof Dyneema® Composite Fabric construction provides ultimate protection for my stuff, in all weather conditions. While I’m not always after the requirement of having a waterproof fanny pack for my travel essentials, the plus is that if I get caught in the rain (or if I’m on a boat or at the beach), having this protection is a plus!

What sets it apart is its versatility - I can wear it around your waist, crossbody, under your shoulder, or attach it to your pack on the hip belt, sternum strap, or daisy chains.

The spacious 2.5L main pouch easily holds some camera gear (small accessories), snacks, and the phone-keys-wallet trio, while the front zippered pocket keeps my phone separately.

The back stash pocket provides quick access to your hip belt or sternum strap buckle. It’s designed for those who demand flexibility, practicality, and reliable storage no matter the adventure.

Considerations

The ultra-lightweight design means minimal padding, which might not be comfortable for all-day wear. What I notice while I wear mine is also that the strap is thin, so if you have some heavier and denser items inside, the thin strap feels less supportive. I think this is all for the technical design vibe.

The Dyneema material feels different from traditional fanny pack materials, which might not appeal to every single traveler in the market for a new fanny bag. It’s a bit dry and wrinkly, and translucent as well.

This one is also one of the more higher-priced fanny packs we recommend, and it comes from the technical components that make this waist bag unique. It may not appeal to anyone who’s on a tight budget or isn’t looking for a niche product like this one.
